WayTrace: robot follows web-map walking directions to navigate 2.35 km through Zurich unaided
breadli428 · x · 2026-11-04
The WayTrace project gave a robot the same walking directions you'd get from a web map and let it find its own way through Zurich — crosswalks, stairs, crowded streets, construction sites — covering 2.35 km total. A clever test of embodied navigation using human-level abstract directions instead of centimeter-level planning.
