Tencent's Hy4 adds vision and computer use — can it survive long real-world tasks?
Short_Association904 · reddit · 2026-11-04
Tencent released Hy4, with two headline additions: vision understanding (images and complex charts) and computer use across CLI and GUI, including targeted training for tools like Blender and CAD.
The author raises open questions:
- Reliability: what happens when a button moves, a permission pop-up interrupts, or a command fails mid-task — can the model diagnose and recover?
- Cost: every failed action, retry, and new screenshot means more tokens and API calls, which can add up fast over long workflows.
- Long-horizon tracking: agents may complete several steps correctly, then lose track of progress or assume something worked when it didn't.
The post invites the community to put Hy4's computer use to real-world tests.
