TACL bans papers submitted to ARR in past 9 months, citing lottery-rejected submissions
EhudReiter · x · 2026-11-04
TACL has tightened its submission policy: papers submitted to ARR (or directly to ACL, AACL, EACL, NAACL, EMNLP) within the past 9 months are no longer eligible, including papers that lost the ARR reviewer-capacity lottery, were desk-rejected, or already received reviews.
The change was prompted by a wave of authors treating TACL as a backup venue after failing the ARR lottery. The journal explicitly states it is not a fallback for such papers.
