eggshell released: a bare-metal Go unikernel that runs unmodified Linux binaries
evilsocket · x · 2026-11-04
Security researcher AndreaBarisani (usbarmory/TamaGo) released eggshell, a bare-metal Go unikernel implementing the Linux ABI so it can run unmodified POSIX-compliant Linux executables.
- Supports statically linked C/Go binaries (including the Go toolchain itself) and programs dynamically linked against musl
- Aimed at cases where a full operating environment is unavoidable, such as running the Go compiler — a complement to TamaGo's pure-Go unikernel approach
- Early experimental stage; repo includes microvm board support, sshd, networking, benchmarks (68 stars)
