Andrej Karpathy built his own YouTube in 2 hours without touching code. HackerTube curates 6,454 videos recommended in Hacker News comments from 2007–2026, across 150 topics.
Pipeline: Opus 5.5 downloaded all HN comments; Sonnet filtered 40K video-recommendation comments in a Claude Code Workflow; Opus built the YouTube-style UI, deployed to a VPS, and secured it. His only manual steps: a Google Cloud API key, booting a VPS, and buying the domain. Setup: Claude Code desktop on Mac with Opus 5.5 at Medium effort. Thumbnails come from the video's 50% mark; account-free "For You" recommendations store state in the browser; data is fully exportable so your agent can build its own version.
