Anthropic's Cat Wu departs, recalls building RL envs with early Claude Code
brada · x · 2026-11-04
Cat Wu announced her last day at Anthropic, reflecting on two years with Claude Code. Back when it was a small internal tool, she had Claude build an RL environment — steering it for tens of hours without writing a single line of code by hand. That experience hooked her and led her to join the team.
She contrasts launch day, when most users approved every permission prompt manually and used Claude mainly for answering questions and writing tests, with how differently it's used today.
