Against PG's 'write-nots' prediction: will AI actually drive people back to liberal arts?
akbirthko · x · 2026-11-04
Quoting Paul Graham's essay Writes and Write-Nots, the poster pushes back with the opposite prediction. PG argued that writing is fundamentally hard because clear thinking is hard, and AI has now dissolved nearly all pressure to write — so the world will split into writes and write-nots, with the middle ground vanishing. The poster contends the opposite may happen: once AI can write for everyone, people will genuinely seek out the liberal arts and rediscover writing and thinking for themselves.
