The open-source Mercury project released Mercury Desktop, a free desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux. The announcement highlights its tiny 5MB footprint versus typical 300MB "browser in a trench coat" AI chat apps. It learns how you work, maintains a growing "second brain," and its Optimus feature can use your computer (asking first).
