Codex revived a 16-year-old Toshiba SSD stuck in write-protection mode in about an hour

A Reddit user plugged in a long-forgotten 128GB Toshiba mSATA SSD from a 16-year-old Vaio hybrid and let Codex take over. The drive had been stuck in protection mode for 2 years, reporting only 64KB and blocking SMART commands—effectively dead.
After the user fed Codex photos of the NAND and controller part numbers, it researched the drive, ran tools over SSH on a Windows machine, and within an hour restored read/write access. The user formatted it as NTFS and wrote 10GB of data flawlessly, gaining a free 128GB portable SSD.
He also notes Codex's other win this week: patching the old Ubisoft game From Dust to run at 165 FPS with correct physics and no Ubisoft launcher required.
