Church bells beat jet engines for geolocating video: 5,896 UK bell towers all unique
mariofilhoml · x · 2026-11-04
A user found an unusual audio-geolocation trick: plane engines require timestamps and unbroken audio (0/56 normal YouTube videos worked), but church bells need only a few seconds. Dove's Guide, the UK bell ringers' database, logs all 5,896 bell towers in England—each with unique frequencies and a known largest-bell note. Testing it on a Derbyshire walk video, the bells pinpointed the exact church. The author was stunned it actually works.
