Dev reverse-engineering CPAP firmware with Claude keeps hitting Anthropic's safety classifier
ryunuck · x · 2026-11-04
ryunuck announced a recomp project on the ResMed AirSense CPAP firmware, planning to port it to Rust and open-source everything, with a set of mods already planned using Claude.
He also warns that prompts will get blocked by Anthropic's safety classifier (they already have), quipping that "Anthropic is not in the business of saving lives." He wants to see $50 CPAP machines on Amazon by 2030.
A case study in AI-assisted reverse engineering — and the friction between open medical-device hacking and model safety guardrails.
