Xiaomi humanoid works 8-hour factory shift, but skeptics say a hidden gantry does the job 200x faster and 50x cheaper

Xiaomi showed its full-size humanoid robot doing an 8-hour shift at a center-console side-cover sorting station in its auto factory, claiming autonomous anomaly detection and coordination with the production line.
But Matt Parlmer pushes back sharply: he argues such demos are a "psyop" to trick Western robotics companies into putting humanoids in factories, while the actual work in the Xiaomi plant is done by a gantry with a wrist kept out of frame — roughly 200x faster and 50x cheaper.
