Claude Code adds per-turn ultrathink effort boost, subagent effort control and smarter /usage
ClaudeDevs · x · 2026-11-04
Anthropic shipped a batch of Claude Code updates:
- Effort control: typing ultrathink bumps effort to xhigh for just that one turn without changing the session setting; you can also tell Claude which effort level subagents should run at.
- Usage clarity: /usage in the CLI now explains in plain words what's consuming your limits, with a one-press fix (f) when available.
- Cheaper session resumes: long idle sessions are compacted right before the 1h prompt cache expires, so returning only reprocesses the summary; Pro/Max users get a heads-up if resuming a very long conversation would eat a big chunk of the 5-hour limit.
