Citing the New York Times, firstadopter notes Anthropic is expected to have more than 3.5GW of computing power by year-end per two people familiar with its plans — almost exactly what OpenAI estimated for Anthropic back in April. An OpenAI investor memo titled "Compute is the ballgame" compared its own ramp (0.2GW in 2023, 0.6GW in 2024, 1.9GW in 2025, with 8GW identified and a 30GW target by 2030) against Anthropic's projected 1.4GW for 2025, 3-4GW by end of 2026, and 7-8GW by end of 2027.
