A 2026 study of 2,400 executives and employees worldwide shows enterprise AI adoption is severely polarized: 79% of companies fail despite spending $1M+/year; 54% of C-suite admit AI is 'tearing the company apart', 48% call it a 'massive disappointment', 75% say their AI strategy is 'more for show', and 29% of employees admit to actively sabotaging it. Meanwhile the top 21% — those redesigning entire workflows — see 10-25% EBITDA growth, and the gap with AI-native companies is accelerating rather than closing.
