X's Head of Design open-sources Stageshow, a skill that fixes AI-slop UI with 100+ design rules

Benji Taylor, Head of Design at X, open-sourced Stageshow — a skill (npx skills add benjitaylor/skills --skill stageshow) that makes AI agents produce production-grade UI instead of AI-slop mockups. His launch post hit 730K views and 16.7K bookmarks in two days.
He distilled 100+ of his own design decisions into one principle: "It reads as a real product, simplified to what the viewer needs, framed with intent, and every motion has a cause."
The skill names 5 ways agent-generated UIs fail: too much text, wireframe-like too little, boxed into one card, flat visual weight, and bland branding.
It then walks the agent through 7 steps — pick medium, lock, story beats, script, screen, choreography, rehearsal — and crucially, films its own work frame by frame, flags issues, and re-renders. Comparing outputs with and without the skill, then writing failures back into the skill, is how the agent "acquires taste". Works in Gemini CLI, Claude Code, Codex and Similar.
