HKU IDS's October 2026 e-Newsletter (Issue 7) highlights its push to open AI agent learning beyond academia. The IDS Summer Workshop 2026 (Aug 19–21), led by Prof Chao Huang, brought together learners from social work, education, finance, and transport to learn what LLMs can and cannot do, then hands-on with agents. Social worker Dr Esther Mui won Best Presenter; student Xubin Ren made the 2025 AI25 "Pioneers Under 25" list (Sequoia China × MIT Tech Review China).
