Anthropic's founding-to-IPO timeline matches Google's almost to the month
code_star · x · 2026-11-03
codestar calculated that Anthropic's path from founding (January 2021) to its expected Nasdaq IPO (November 2026, ticker ANT) took about 5 years 10 months — nearly to the month the same as Google's 5 years 11 months from founding to IPO, suggesting the perceived "insane speed run" is partly an attention-span illusion.
The scale, however, is unprecedented: Google IPO'd at roughly 1/10 the value of the world's most valuable company at the time (Bank of America, $204B by year-end 2004), while Anthropic is expected to enter at 3/10 to 1/2 that ratio — making it a $1T+ IPO an order of magnitude larger than any tech IPO in history.
