Anthropic roadmap: AI could fully automate top research teams by early 2027
maksym_andr · x · 2026-11-03
Anthropic published its Frontier Safety Roadmap, laying out its highest-priority safety goals publicly.
- Automated R&D: Anthropic believes that "as soon as early 2027," its AI systems could fully automate or dramatically accelerate the work of large, top-tier human research teams in domains where rapid progress could threaten international security or the global balance of power—energy, robotics, weapons development, and AI itself.
- The roadmap spans four pillars: Security (preventing model theft/sabotage/manipulation), Safeguards (blocking dangerous use via product surfaces and internally), Alignment (ensuring models consistently follow its Constitution), and Policy (a tangible path for policymakers).
- Public goals act as a "forcing function," similar to how its Responsible Scaling Policy drove ASL-3; Anthropic hopes peers publish their own goals and commits to not weakening targets due to execution shortfalls.
