Vibecoding discourse is hypnotizing normal people into paying for tools they don't need
arthurcolle · x · 2026-11-03
jmrphy argues the VC + founder discourse circuit is confusing ordinary people about AI: anyone smart enough to use a coding agent doesn't need most of the 28 hot "vibecoding" platforms, yet the discourse — including a paid-influencer ecosystem — effectively hypnotizes people into paying for things they don't need. He concedes the "SaaSpocalypse" was overblown for enterprises, which will keep buying software from each other for a long time, but says none of that applies to individuals building for themselves; even Replit, ideal for terminal-shy beginners, isn't necessary for them.
