Loyal Google user: Gemini replaced Assistant and everything got worse
alpinesteveo · reddit · 2026-11-03
A heavy Google-ecosystem user posted a detailed rant claiming Gemini Pro's takeover from Google Assistant degraded everything: voice recognition errors across smart home devices, Gboard repeatedly replacing correct transcriptions with wrong text, and hardware quality slipping as Google focused on AI.
He says he pays full price for ChatGPT despite having free top-tier Gemini, citing constant hallucinations and outdated search results, and refuses to connect such a model to his Gmail and calendar data. He threatens to switch entirely to Samsung and Apple.
