Dev: 10-20 hours of custom agent infra beats off-the-shelf Codex

Andrew McCalip (retweeted by andreisavu) argues every interface is becoming a "thin wrapper on agents managing agent swarms on huge compute." He runs a custom architecture: one model orchestrating goals, driving Opus-class orchestrators, which steer swarms of Sonnet-class sub-agents. His take: off-the-shelf solutions like Codex or Claude are too thin and lag what's possible — invest 10-20 hours in your own infra and you can beat them.
