VideoRebirth Report: Agent Harnesses for Agentic Video Generation, World Models and Recursive Self-Improvement
VideoRebirthAI · hf · 2026-11-03
A long-form report from VideoRebirth with NUS, NTU, HKUST and other institutions argues video generation is shifting from end-to-end synthesis toward agentic generation, coordinated by an agent harness — an executable runtime that builds agent context, exposes tools, maintains state, routes feedback, and enforces budgets around models like video generators.
Three threads:
- Agentic video generation: harnesses coordinate script/shot planning, asset management, shot production and editing, plus how evaluation of such systems should be separated;
- Agentic world modeling: harnesses mediate observation, control, execution and state — including designs where a coding agent writes the game engine or program holding the world while the world model renders it, with agents and world models testing and improving each other;
- Recursive self-improvement (RSI): separating revisions of current output from updates to harness state, generator parameters and evaluators, and identifying channels through which improvements re-enter development.
The report also maps agent capabilities video imposes, from audiovisual perception and long-horizon planning to memory and interaction through code and computers.
