Revolut moves ~2,000 engineers to self-hosted GLM, cutting coding costs ~90%
AccBalanced · x · 2026-11-03
Per David Abitbol, who leads AI ops at Revolut, the bank moved 2,000 engineers' default coding model from metered frontier APIs to self-hosted GLM, with Claude Code and Codex kept as exceptions. 56 Nvidia B200s serve the whole load at a blended 30 cents per million tokens — roughly a tenth of prior Anthropic/OpenAI spend — while engineering lead time improved 70%. The gains appeared once tokens stopped being rationed: engineers stopped saving AI for hard tickets. 'Frontier models become the exception, open weights the default' — a pricing problem for labs heading to IPO.
