Shodan flags a third of the world's Danfoss fridges as honeypots
matthew_d_green · x · 2026-11-03
A data pull shared by cryptographer Matthew Green found that 1,910 of 6,508 Danfoss refrigerator service records returned by Shodan are tagged as honeypots — roughly a third of the global population. The author plans to adjust the chart accordingly and is testing whether aggregate fingerprint queries can get daily breakdowns without repeatedly spending search credits. A funny testament to how IoT fingerprinting mislabels real appliances.
