OpenEaNasir: AI-generated public-domain translation of the 4,000-year-old Ea-nāṣir complaint tablet
firasd · x · 2026-11-03
Developer firasd couldn't find a public-domain English translation of the famous Complaint tablet to Ea-nāṣir (c. 1750 B.C.) — the internet's favorite ancient customer-service complaint. So he built OpenEaNasir: AI models independently translate the tablet from CDLI's ATF transliteration, and the results are released into the public domain (LLM outputs carry no copyright). The project is open-sourced on GitHub, with a literal translation by Claude already published. Nanni's complaint about Ea-nāṣir's poor-quality copper ingots finally has an IP-free canonical English text.
