eq-layer: a zero-dependency router that picks the conversational move, not the reply
Emergency-Tutor-7 · reddit · 2026-11-03
The author released eq-layer (MIT, Python 3.10+, zero runtime deps): it reads a chat transcript as JSON and outputs one routing decision — which conversational move to take next — while a separate model or human writes the words. Small decision space (mirror, validateredirect, direct, ask, deflate, repair, hold, boundary) with actions factored into taskmove/socialmove/repairmove/realization. Three layers (intent, affect, subtext) each run as deterministic stdlib heuristics or learned models via an optional [ml] extra; the route JSON names the backend actually used, and eq-layer doctor prints diagnostics. Explicitly not a truth checker or EQ benchmark; 35 test files, 295 test functions, fuzz and determinism CI on the zero-dependency path. Version 0.2.5.
