Per The Information, Meta built a humanoid prototype called "Max" with China's Fourier in about three months and is working on a second version. A Meta robotics exec spent nearly two months at Fourier's Shanghai factory; Meta says it's internal research with no plans to sell. Notably, this surfaced three days after the US Section 232 proclamation on robotics imports — US labs are leveraging China's hardware supply chain to move fast on embodied AI.
