Same AI, cents vs tens of millions: the value gap is in the question, not the answer
r0ck3t23 · x · 2026-11-03
A viral long-form take arguing that answers are becoming free and questions are the scarce resource.
- Ask an AI why your laptop won't turn on and its few words are worth cents; ask it about a drug stuck in development and its suggestion to move one ring of atoms makes the drug work — worth tens of millions. Same machine, same kind of output; the difference was the question, not the answer
- Analogy: a surgeon and a stranger can both spend five minutes in a room at the same cost — the value comes from what each knows to ask
- Core thesis: centuries of schooling trained us to find right answers, but the most valuable skill now is asking the right questions; most people still use these machines like a search bar. The gap was never about the machine — it was about who sits in front of it.
