Open-source Claude Buddy: a $12 cartoon companion that explains Claude Code answers
OdinLovis · x · 2026-11-03
Developer OdinLovis open-sourced claude-buddy, a tiny animated companion floating over VS Code that reacts to Claude Code — thinks while it works, cheers on success, frowns at errors. It can read answers aloud or turn them into on-the-fly 1930s-style cartoon explainer videos.
The build is instructive: the character is made of 100+ four-second MiniMax H3 Max video loops, each starting and ending on the same frame so they chain seamlessly, generated once for about $12 with nothing rendered live for the character; voice is also generated via fal, exploiting H3 Max's speed. Still a prototype.
