AI lab insiders are buying bunkers; safety researchers publish a personal cyber-prepping guide
harris_edouard · x · 2026-11-03
AI safety researchers including Jeremie Harris have been preparing personally for AI-driven cyberattacks since early 2026 and wrote a post documenting the mistakes they made. Their motivation: AI's offensive cyber capabilities are improving fast, and by early 2026 many of their friends at frontier AI labs were prepping seriously — some building personal bunkers or buying bugout properties.
Concrete advice from the thread: beyond food, water and power, protect electronics from exotic RF-based attacks (e.g. Faraday sleeves for laptops); 50% of networked cars could be bricked at scale, but on most vehicles you can simply disconnect the telematics unit instead of buying an old car; get both a generator and Faraday protection. They say Tier 1 special forces collaborators checked many recommendations, and a future post will cover bio risks, which they expect to arrive a few months after the cyber threat.
