Shruti Marathi is out: a 29.7 MB model that writes Marathi and English offline on a five-year-old phone, and runs in the browser with nothing leaving the device.
The team found that under 100 MB, every other open model they tested gets more Marathi words wrong than right; Shruti Marathi posts a 29.9% error rate on FLEURS. An extreme small-model case for low-resource languages.
