Google AI Overview melts down on a simple time question, second-guessing itself in the answer
najoungkim · x · 2026-11-02
A Google AI Overview asked for the current time in Korea Standard Time produced a visibly confused answer: it repeatedly second-guessed itself mid-summary ("Wait. Let's check"), wavered between November 2 and November 3, 2026, even suggested running a Python script to verify, and still ended with a date inconsistent with the UTC math it showed. Researcher Najoung Kim shared the screenshot, calling it "going berserko." Another notable reliability failure for AI search summaries on trivially factual queries.
