Eric Elliott, a well-known JavaScript/AI engineer, revealed in an X argument that Adobe let him go in September 2025 and that since then he has sent out hundreds of job applications, most without even landing interviews. He countered that he pioneered agent engineering in practice back in 2023, led the Adobe Firefly Client Platform (credited with $5B in AI-influenced ARR), spoke at the first prompt engineering conference, invented the prompting language SudoLang, and helped 8 companies adopt agentic engineering. His sparring partner argued that AI agent implementation is currently the hottest role in tech, implying he should skill up — sparking discussion about employment realities for senior AI practitioners.
