Google's Gary Illyes implies click and query data won't come to Search Console AI reports

Google's Gary Illyes said on LinkedIn that the Search Console team is only interested in bringing "data that makes sense" to the AI performance report, implying click and query data won't be included anytime soon.
The controversy started when a quote from Google Search Central live was interpreted as promising that clicks and queries data — the most requested dataset by site owners and SEOs — would eventually land in Search Console. Barry Schwartz argued the quote was misread, while SEOs like Lily Ray pushed back that site owners should judge for themselves which data is useful.
The dispute matters because publishers currently can't measure real clicks and conversions driven by Google's AI-powered search features.
