Non-coder builds Briglia: a chronological-history agent memory that beats Hermes on recall
matteoianni · reddit · 2026-11-02
A Rome-based non-developer used Claude to build Briglia, an open-source Hermes alternative that replaces retrieval-based memory with a curated chronological conversation history (50k context tokens). Daily exchanges are compressed from 10k tokens into dense 1k summaries; recent weeks stay detailed, older months compress, with a fact-archival pass and grep access to raw messages. No sessions — one conversation for months. On his own preliminary month-long memory benchmark, Briglia recalled 43/48 old facts vs 39 for Hermes + Hindsight and 6 for Codex. Requires only an OpenRouter key and a Telegram bot token; warning: it's a full-access agent (shell, files, web, email).
