Open-sourced: the 6,809-part robotic lobster Claude built, in a single HTML file
atullchaurasia · x · 2026-11-02
The author open-sourced the Claude-generated 3D robotic lobster shown earlier, as project "Homarus HX-4" on GitHub.
Highlights:
- Single HTML file, no build step: open index.html in a browser; three.js r128 loads from CDN
- Drivable, explodable and recordable: 8-leg walking, crusher/cutter claws, swaying antennae, tail-flip escape; each subsystem has a button that pulls that part apart
- A live console shows gait, leg loads, grip force and tail curl, all computed from the same model that poses the parts
- The page tours itself when idle; any click hands control back to you
- Controls: drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, Space for tail flip, X for exploded view
- MIT licensed, includes CLAUDE.md and a tools directory
