Contrary to popular belief, AI safety super PACs have far outspent their opponents in the 2026 midterms. Per the Transformer AI Campaign Finance Tracker (FEC filings, as of Nov 1, 2026): the Public First network—funded largely by Public First Action, which received at least $20M from Anthropic (restricted to policy/public-education work)—spent $44.39M, with Jobs and Democracy PAC alone at $18.49M. The Leading the Future network (backed by a16z and Greg & Anna Brockman) spent $27.90M across three PACs, led by Think Big at $18.68M.
