AMD is trying to buy its way out of the CUDA moat via vLLM
FinanceYF5 · x · 2026-11-02
Quoting sonnetxu's analysis: AMD is pouring engineering and compute resources into vLLM to buy its way out of NVIDIA's CUDA moat. The whole ecosystem benefits, but returns are asymmetric — with a nascent software stack, AMD gains more from hardware-agnostic inference. It doesn't need to own software; commoditizing software makes its hardware more competitive.
