Hacking a Samsung TV remote: GLM-5.3 helps confirm secure boot, OTA firmware found on TV side
ngxson · x · 2026-11-02
Continuing his teardown of Samsung's solar-powered TV remote, ngxson pivoted from hardware to the BLE link: the raw OTA firmware packet is already downloaded on the TV side, ready to flash over BLE. Using GLM-5.3 via Hugging Face inference endpoints, he confirmed the remote has secure boot enabled. Disassembly shows the boot chain verifies signed factory-data and OEM-config blobs, and OTA images require an 0x8721BEE2 magic plus RSA-2048 signature; silent UART is mostly a compile-time log removal, with pins still reachable via MP test mode.
