Tom's Hardware reports that a Lenovo "encrypted" fingerprint USB drive turned out to be nothing but an unencrypted SD card inside a fancy enclosure.
A follow-up investigation, assisted by AI, then found backdoors and hardcoded keys in several other "secure" USB products. These drives are often marketed for sensitive data storage — the takeaway: don't trust vendor encryption claims without independent teardowns and audits.
