psnek: A modern reimagining of the Python progress bar with metrics and semantic coloring
minimaxir · x · 2026-11-02
Developer minimaxir open-sourced psnek, a Python package that reimagines the traditional progress bar.
Key features:
- Standard progress bar capabilities including nesting and text writing
- Metrics and logs attached directly to the bar to visualize how key data changes as it progresses
- Semantic coloring: bars turn amber when a loop stalls and red when stuck, adapting dynamically to the current pace
- Highly customizable: gradient colors, text placement above/below the bar, and adjustable bar height
- System notification support
