rakyll proposes AX Studio as official desktop app for Google's AX agent substrate
rakyll · x · 2026-11-02
Google engineer rakyll opened a GitHub issue proposing to promote her weekend-prototype AX Studio into an official AX desktop app for macOS/Windows/Linux, asking for +1s and feedback.
Pain point: running AX requires three layers — a kind cluster with a local registry, Agent Substrate built from source and installed, and the AX control plane with a pool of gVisor workers — after which everything is CLI and YAML, with hand-written Tasks/Workspaces/Models/secrets and no overall view.
Prototype features: launch tasks from prebuilt images (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude agents), inspect task state and logs, SSH into tasks, and automatically set up clusters. Prototype at github.com/rakyll/ax-studio.
