Luminate published "AI & Media: Audience Attitudes," based on its US Entertainment 365 consumer survey, examining how audiences respond to generative AI being used in creating songs, movies and TV.
Key findings:
- Overall attitudes are mixed but wary: consumers are more cautious than eager to engage with AI-assisted media, though many are ambivalent about whether AI was used at all.
- Views are broadly consistent across media types, with the strongest opposition to AI-written news. Video games with AI assets face the least resistance — 40% of players are neither more nor less interested in AI-generated characters, environments or dialogue, versus about a third ambivalent for other media.
- Net interest varies sharply by age: consumers 55 and older are the most negative toward AI-assisted content across movies, TV and more.
