AI is eating cost centers: mid-career advice says move to profit centers now
emeka_boris · x · 2026-11-02
In a widely shared thread, iChuloo advises mid-career professionals to work in a profit center rather than a cost center. Cost-center roles (software engineers, designers, support, PMs, HR) need more headcount to scale and are being squeezed by AI; profit-center roles (solution engineers, FDEs, account managers, growth marketers, technical BD) map directly to revenue. His advice: draw a clean line from your work to revenue, even if your manager doesn't care — they'll get fired before you.
