VC thesis: 'intersection companies' emerge as AI lets founders combine bio, robotics, defense
kevinweil · x · 2026-11-02
Chapter One founder Jeff Morris Jr. argues the old 'investing at the edges' playbook has changed: bio, robotics, defense, manufacturing and aerospace have advanced far enough that founders can now build across two or three at once, enabled by general-purpose foundation models, simulation and robotics. His example is Warhound (bio x AI x defense), which licenses genetics tech from Colossal Biosciences to breed and clone military working dogs — over 80% of US military dogs are bought from European breeders and fewer than half pass training — layered with sensor-based health and performance software and Anduril gear. OpenAI's former CPO Kevin Weil shared it, praising the 'rock band team' approach.
