Musk predicts money won't matter by 2036 as AI and robots oversupply goods and services
CodeByPoonam · x · 2026-11-01
Elon Musk argues money could lose its meaning by 2036: AI handles digital work, robots produce physical goods, and supply exceeding what people can consume pushes prices toward zero. The open question is distribution — who gets access to that abundance, and how the transition away from paid work plays out.
The author notes that producing more doesn't automatically make everyone able to afford it: ownership, distribution and the transition still matter. Getting to a machine-driven economy of abundance could be extraordinary, but messy.
