Reddit user details Codex disaster: broken UI and botched logic in Unity game port
AcademicMistake · reddit · 2026-11-01
A Reddit user describes a frustrating experience using OpenAI's Codex (high reasoning mode) to port a game to Unity: the model made unrequested changes, wrecked the UI, button layout, character/clothing previews and core player/business logic, and repeated fixes failed, leaving the author considering reverting to the old engine.
A second example: asked for an isometric black-and-gold safe, the model kept producing flat 2D approximations with misplaced doors, only succeeding after the user supplied a reference image with an arrow. The author says they won't pay for Codex again and found free browser text models easier to work with.
