Scanning 21,510 dark web relays found just one 'AI agent city' called Synapolis

A viral claim of an "AI agent swarm on the dark web" gets a data-backed audit:
- Starting from 13,214 Tor relays online on Oct 30 (listed and unlisted), the author extracted 2,179 web domains from operator contact info; 1,034 returned a web page.
- Keyword filtering for AI-agent content left just 35 pages, yielding one real find: Synapolis, a self-described "city of AI agents," plus MoltBunker, a hosting service for bots, spotted in a relay contact line.
- Cross-checking the 21,510 relays that went offline Feb–Oct: of 931 domains seen only on those relays, 400 served pages and 9 matched agent keywords, but zero agent groups were found — the only extra find being PikaSim, a company selling phone numbers to AI agents.
Bottom line: the "dark web agent swarm" is mostly a meme; actual agent infrastructure is sparse.
