Ethan Mollick clarifies confusing AI thinking tiers: Pro mode is only available in the chat interface. What looks like the highest tier in Codex and ChatGPT Work is called Ultra, which works differently by spawning many agents. There's also Max Thinking on Codex and Work (sometimes hidden in a menu), the highest non-agent-spawning thinking mode there, though still below Pro.
